AOL Mail (sometimes referred to as AIM Mail) is a web-based email (webmail) service provided by AOL. Its main competitors are Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The "AIM" in the name stands for AOL Instant Messenger, AOL's instant messaging program.
AOL Mail is free and also features an option for creating an email address for a custom domain.

Advertising is displayed while working with the e-mail account. Users can also read and send mail using IMAP and POP3 capable email programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail. Embedded links within emails are automatically disabled and can be activated by the email user.
AOL mail has recently launched Tunome, which gives users customized domain names for example: luckymail.com, games.com and blackvoices.com 4.
AOL Mail recently launched a new beta version of their webmail with new applications and a newer color scheme 5.
